Because it matters to Johnny. Can you imagine seeing a 23 month old child malnourished? The Horry County Shelter Home has and that little boy is Johnny. He arrived at the Shelter Home pale, gaunt, not potty trained and barely speaking. Lifting the child up near the light, the staff realized that his upper body was translucent. He was immediately taken to the doctor where he was diagnosed as malnourished. They also learned from his seven year old brother that Johnny still used a bottle and ate nothing else. Four months have now passed and Johnny is just like every other two year old rambunctious boy. He eats with very little assistance, sleeps very nicely, except for the daily whimpering when it is nap time and he has plumped out like most two year olds. He has grown into a very nice young boy who can dress himself, go to the bathroom with constant encouragement, speak clearly and count. Johnny is doing well and thriving thanks to people like you supporting 39 Community Partners through United Way! |
